We've recently completed sketch designs for a bungalow in Portishead which has been extended a number of times over a few decades. The site lacks any real masterplan with the dwelling consisting of a series of disconnected spaces. We've proposed a new first floor above the original bungalow footprint to create the heart of the home for the family to enjoy together and taking advantage of the views over the estuary to the north. The client is also eager to fill the south facing roof with solar panels to generate energy on site. You can read more about this project here, or explore all of our projects here.

We are currently working on technical detailing of the building fabric for a new single storey extension to a previously converted threshing barn in North Devon. We have specified the use of woodfibre insulation across the walls and roof to create a high quality build that will improve the thermal performance of the building. The design also incorporates a zinc roof which has very good environmental credentials, is very robust long lasting, and its malleability lends itself well to shape of the roof.

As we prepare to complete a planning application for our client, we're pleased to share a visual of this contemporary extension that we have designed complete with dark cladding, concealed guttering, and a sedum roof. The contemporary design creates a juxtaposition to the stone cottage that forms the main dwelling.
